JU Turtle Patrol 
And be a part of the new СÀ¶ÊÓƵ Sea Turtle Program
 
Requirements:
be a current JU Biology or Marine Science Bachelor or Master student,
have a valid Florida Driver's License,
commit to walking 2+ miles in soft sand with up to 15 pound backpack twice per week between April 15 & October 31 (flexibility provided for time away),
meet 30 minutes before sunrise on each of your scheduled mornings,
be in good health and physically strong enough to endure 1-3 hours in the hot summer sun and capable of digging large amounts of sand,
agree to participate in the collection of data by following strict protocols that support critical research for the protection of marine turtles,
attend a virtual FWC training on nesting data collection,
attend an in-person Mickler’s Landing Turtle Patrol training on nesting data collection,
have a genuine interest and motivation to protect the endangered marine turtles and other species that share our beach, and
commit to respect the beach at all times, including reducing your footprint, respecting the dunes and protecting the dune plants.

2025 RaMP-UP Tropical Biodiversity Fellowship

Spend a year in Panama at the Smithsonian Tropical Research Institute practicing cutting edge and rigorous methodologies to make a lasting impact on Tropical BioDiversity.

Application Window: January 15 – March 16, 2025

Recent graduates (within the last four years) with a BA or BS are encouraged to apply for the RaMP-UP Fellowship, which provides hands-on experience in tropical biodiversity research.

SRI 2025 Travel Funding Opportunity

Application Window: January 6 – February 23, 2025

GSS, in collaboration with the Sustainability, Research, and Innovation Congress (SRI) 2025, is offering financial support to students, early-career sustainability researchers, practitioners, and mentors to attend the conference in Chicago from June 16–20, 2025. Scholarships range from $2,000 to $3,500 and may cover registration, travel, and lodging costs.
