Apply for Graduation

  • For your degree to be conferred by the Registrar鈥檚 office you must apply for graduation.
  • Log into your student portal > go to Self Service > click the Graduation Overview > Apply for graduation.
  • Post Graduate Certificate students can not apply through their student portal. You must fill out a graduation application and submit it to the Registrar鈥檚 office.

Diploma & Transcripts

  • When it is time to graduate, it can take 1-2 weeks for your degree to be conferred and added to your transcript.
  • You can order a transcript prior to graduating but should mark the order as 鈥渉old for graduation鈥.  This will ensure the transcript goes out after your degree has been conferred.
  • Transcripts are free and can be ordered through the student portal.
  • Diplomas will be mailed 4 to 6 weeks after graduation.  Make sure your address on file is correct.

Graduation Cap and Gowns

  • Place regalia orders through Herff Jones.  Please see the Commencement pages for more information on regalia.
  • Deadline to order: March 10, 2024
  • DNP students wear a tam, gown, tassel, and hood. The Doctoral tam will be peach (or apricot) to represent nursing.
  • MSN students wear a cap with tassel, gown, and hood.
  • Post Graduate Certificate students do not need to order cap and gowns.
  • Optional - Green Stoles can be worn with your regalia and can be purchased through Herff Jones. These are not required.
  • Optional - Cords that represent organizations you are part of can be worn with your regalia. You would purchase them on your own.  Two examples are the Veteran cords and Sigma Theta Tau cords, but there are others.
  • Most students rent the graduation regalia.  To purchase the regalia, it is more expensive and is customized.  To purchase instead of renting you would also order from Herff Jones.
  • The Herff Jones page will walk you through the order. Be sure to select these options for the correct regalia:
    • Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Science
    • Doctor of Nursing Practice or Master鈥檚 Degree
    • click Shop
  • When ordering, you have the option to select a graduation package or you can just order the regalia by selecting cap and gown.
