Clinical Skills Lab

Using Technology to Enhance Deeper Learning

The СÀ¶ÊÓƵ, Keigwin School of Nursing, Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences Skills Laboratory is dedicated to providing a positive and student-centered learning environment. The Skills lab contains 8 outpatient examination tables and several workstations that allow the students to practice and master physical assessment and skills for the undergraduate and graduate specialty programs. Jacksonville University students interact with simulated persons (SP’s) or actors portraying the roles of patients and family members in the Skills Lab to enhance their clinical training and interpersonal skills. The Skills Lab is also home to our Anatomage table which is a 3-D computer-generated cadaver imaging system to help facilitate interactive learning.

The Skills Lab is managed by a team of experts who are passionate about equipping students with the knowledge and skills they need to be competent and confident in the professional healthcare environment. The Skills Lab collaborates with multiple healthcare science disciplines to strengthen learning and optimize student outcomes by utilizing innovative approaches to experiential learning. The goal of the Skills Lab is to help students bridge the gap between the classroom and the clinical setting. The Skills Lab provides a safe space for students to practice their clinical skills in a low-risk environment before interacting with patients in the clinical setting.
