The Marine Science Research Institute (MSRI) supports undergraduate and graduate research, as well as community outreach efforts, to promote economic and environmental sustainability. The Public Policy Institute (PPI) offers both academic programming and special events that aim to educate, train, and prepare the next generation of leaders in public policy, politics and leadership. MARINE SCIENCE RESEARCH INSTITUTEEngaging in Ecological and Environmental Research
The Marine Science Research Institute provides high-quality research opportunities for students, faculty and other researchers on issues related to the St. Johns River and the aquatic environments. The MSRI prepares students to engage as stewards of the environment, raises awareness in the community about environmental resources, and fosters a cooperative environment for interdisciplinary research and community outreach. Student and faculty researchers engage in public discourse to impact conservation and sustainability policies.
The MSRI houses the St. Johns Riverkeeper, the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission Northeastern Fisheries Laboratory, the Millar Wilson Laboratory for Environmental Chemistry and OCEARCH. It provides support for the Department of Biology and Marine Science undergraduate and graduate programs with faculty offices and laboratories.

PUBLIC POLICY INSTITUTEShaping the Future of Cities, States, and the Nation
The Public Policy Institute supports a variety of learning opportunities for undergraduates, graduate students, and community members. Undergraduate students can earn a minor in public policy as a complement to any major. Graduate programming through PPI includes: Master in Public Policy (MPP) degree, Executive Master in Public Policy (EMPP), and three dual degree programs – MPP-Marine Science, MPP-MBA, and MPP-Juris Doctor. These academic programs prepare graduates for careers in public, private, and non-profit sectors.
