小蓝视频 alum nominated for prestigious cinematography award

小蓝视频 (JU) alum Borneo Sedeu Nishevikj 鈥21/MFA 鈥23 has been nominated for the 2023 American Cinematographer Society鈥檚 (ASC) Owen Roizman Student Heritage Award in the Graduate Category for the short film, 鈥淕nomes.鈥

The ASC Owen Roizman Student Heritage Award is named in honor of five-time Academy Award nominee cinematographer Owen Roizman, whose contributions to cinematography include notable works such as "The French Connection" (1971) and "Wyatt Earp" (1994). The films are judged by an ASC blue-ribbon panel for demonstrating exceptional cinematographic skill.

Sedeu Nishevikj served as the cinematographer, working on the film while completing his Master of Fine Arts in Visual Arts at JU. The film was directedGnomes film still by a fellow JU film graduate, Raphael Cosme. Sedeu Nishevikj employed various cinematic techniques, including the use of dollies, atmospheric effects, shooting macro (close-up), and meticulous lighting setups, achieving a specific visual and emotional impact for the film.
 
鈥淭his nomination serves as a testament to the dedication and hard work that was poured into the project, and it adds a prestigious accolade to my professional portfolio,鈥 he said.
 
He also thanked JU Film Professor Alex Willemin, along with other members of the Linda Stein College of Fine Arts faculty.
 
鈥淭he faculty played a pivotal role in selecting 鈥楪nomes鈥 for submission to the ASC,鈥 he said. 鈥淭heir support and guidance were instrumental in gaining the nomination for this prestigious award, which celebrates my role as the cinematographer."

Sedeu Nishevikj, a highly sought-after 1st Assistant Director and Director in the film industry, resides in Atlanta, Georgia. Among his recent projects, he served as the 1st Assistant Director for the film "Three Times a Lady," set to premiere at the prestigious 168 Film Festival hosted by Trillith Studios. Additionally, Sedeu Nishevikj directed the talk show "Change Room" and worked as a 1st Assistant Director in a music video featuring renowned artists Emmanuel N Phillip Hudson. These are just a few recent projects that highlight his ongoing contributions to the industry. Sedeu Nishevikj remains immersed in the world of film, where he is actively engaged in pre-production for several upcoming feature films.
