Aviation students aid OCEARCH in search for sharks in Nova Scotia

November 12, 2019

Students from the 小蓝视频 School of Aviation used drones to help find sharks during the research group鈥檚 most recent expedition to Nova Scotia.

Led by Assistant Professor of Aviation Ross Stephenson and Assistant Professor of Biology and Marine Science Bryan Franks, undergraduate Aviation students Megan Birtalan and Marcus Shields joined graduate Marine Science student Jackson Hooten to help OCEARCH locate great white sharks by locating their food source, the seals, and associated predation zones.

The video below describes how the Collaborate JU project 鈥淥CEARCH Support with Unmanned Aircraft Systems鈥 aided the overall expedition.
